Who it works for

  • Physical (wheelchair users and slow walkers): Yes, with notes (staff help at the ticket office and lifts, and the summit walkway is built for wheelchairs; other summit paths are steep or uneven in places)
  • Visual (blind and low vision): With support (your guide describes the views; the wind, the fynbos and the cable car ride are vivid)
  • Hearing (Deaf and hard of hearing): Yes (written brief for the day; interpreter on request)
  • Hidden (autism, fatigue, chronic illness): With planning (summer queues can be long and the cable car can feel busy; we book ahead and choose quieter hours)

Your days

Morning

Collected from your hotel in a step-free vehicle and driven to the lower cable station. A short ride in the rotating cable car takes you to the summit.

Midday

The universal access walkway, the main viewpoints over the city and Robben Island, and lunch at the summit café.

Afternoon

Back down the mountain, then an optional stop on the Sea Point promenade, a long seafront path, before returning to your hotel.

Best time to go

Clear days in summer (November–March) give the best views, but strong south-easterly winds can close the cableway. Winter (June–August) is quieter, with more rain. Early mornings are calmest.

Good to know

  • Wheelchairs can be borrowed at the cableway, subject to availability; we confirm the procedure for your date and bring one if needed.
  • Staff help at the ticket office and at the lifts. Not every part of the summit is accessible: some paths are steep, uneven or stepped.
  • The cableway closes in high wind or low cloud, so we keep the day flexible and move it if needed.
  • Tickets are booked ahead to avoid long summer queues.

Access details checked in October 2026 against: Table Mountain Aerial Cableway: wheelchair access · ATTA: Table Mountain universal access walkway (April 2026) · Cape Town Tourism: wheelchair-friendly attractions. Facilities change, so we reconfirm every detail for your dates before booking.
