Best time to go

April–October: dry, warm days, the best game viewing and a lower malaria risk. Summer is hot and humid.

Good to know

  • Hilltop Camp has ramps that are reported to be easy to use, and accessible bathrooms.
  • Beach wheelchairs at uShaka and St Lucia are free to use, but must be booked ahead; we arrange this.
  • The St Lucia estuary boardwalk had some missing panels at the last report, and the public toilets there are not fully accessible; we check before you go.
  • Hluhluwe-iMfolozi and St Lucia are in a low-risk malaria area. Speak to your doctor or a travel clinic about prevention.
