Who it works for

  • Physical (wheelchair users and slow walkers): Yes, with notes (a wheelchair-accessible room and ramps at the lodge; standard open game drive vehicles need a lift into the seat, so we pre-book a closed vehicle with a ramp where needed)
  • Visual (blind and low vision): With support (your guide describes every sighting)
  • Hearing (Deaf and hard of hearing): Yes (a visual safari; written briefs; interpreter on request)
  • Hidden (autism, fatigue, chronic illness): Yes (one lodge, a short transfer and a rest in the middle of every day)

Your days

Day 1: Into the crater

Collected in Johannesburg or at O. R. Tambo Airport and driven to Pilanesberg. Afternoon game drive.

Day 2: Safari day

Morning and late-afternoon game drives, with a long rest at the lodge in between.

Day 3: Back to Johannesburg

A last early drive, then back to Johannesburg or the airport, or on to Cape Town.

Where you stay

  • Nights 1–2 · Bakubung Bush Lodge · the lodge’s wheelchair-accessible twin room, with a larger bathroom · full board with game drives

As listed or similar, subject to availability and to a measured accessible room.

Best time to go

All year. May–September is dry and cool, with the best game viewing; summer is green, with newborn animals and afternoon storms.

Good to know

  • Bakubung Bush Lodge has one wheelchair-accessible room, so book early. There are ramps at the main lodge and restaurant.
  • Guides help guests on and off the lodge’s game drive vehicles. If you can’t transfer, we pre-book a closed vehicle with a ramp.
  • Pilanesberg is malaria-free. For a malaria-free safari by the sea, see Addo on our Garden Route trip.
